The Ward Pound Ridge Reservation
The 4,315 -acre park makes Ward Pound Ridge Reservation the county’s largest park.
With its varied terrain and landscapes, and miles of wooded trails, the park provides a variety
of activities in all seasons.
There are areas for picnicking, lean-to camping, fishing and cross-country skiing.
The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy

The Pound Ridge Land Conservancy (PRLC) is a
private, non-profit corporation,
with the mission of preserving the rural character of Pound Ridge through the
acquisition and
maintenance of undeveloped land. The Conservancy’s preserves are kept in their natural state,
for aesthetic, ecological and educational purposes. The preserves are held in perpetuity, i.e. they cannot be sold.
The Henry Morgenthau Preserve
The preserve is set along the shoreline of Blue Heron Lake and includes within its boundaries
a portion of the lake, a small offshore island, a number of wetland areas, a small pond, vernal pools
and several small streams. Twenty acres were donated to The Nature Conservancy in 1972 by
Mrs. Ruth M. Knight in memory of her father - Henry Morgenthau. An additional 12 acres were
purchased from Dr. Polly Raizen in 1973 and adjacent 4-acre parcel was donated by Mr. Sid Thompson in 1994.
Westchester Land
Trust Preserves![]()
Founded in 1988 the Westchester Land Trust conserves land in partnership with private property owners,
helps communities create new parks and preserves and fosters sound land use planning.
There are currently 7 public access preserves.
